Nanatsuiro Drops
This was the first thing that came out subbed bar DMC, so it must be the first on list. This season I convinced myself to give everything a try, otherwise loli-harem-hating me would have staid faaaar faaar away from this. As it is, I’m glad I watched it: it was pleasant. Beautifull animation, nice characters, cute premise - it makes me nostalgic, reminding me of the days I watched stuff like Doremi, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne and Wedding Peach. H-game adaptation, you say? Hell, it doesn’t seem like it.
Maybe the next few episodes will change this (hope not), but this series isshoujo.
And I’m a sucker for the ’zomg I must hide my identity!’ cliche.
Umisho
Keep this away from me. Far, far away. Girls in swimming suit are about the only highlight of this. I hate its colour pallette, its character designs, its voice acting. The jokes weren’t funny, I don’t care about the characters and there’s no plot in sight. Umisho comes from Umi Shoujo, I wager - I wish she’d drown in said umi.
Sky Girls
Why did I download this again? Oh, I wanted to watch everything. God, give me those 25 minutes of life back. I could have cooked, cleaned, read assigned books in that meantime! Instead, I suffered through prepubescent girls piloting huge robots without any apparent logical reason (or maybe I was headdesking too hard and didn’t hear the good explanations?) and a horrid opening. Art and animation were plain, and I really don’t want to remember anything else.
Higurashi no naku koro ni Kai
What’s with the horned girl in the opening? Anyway, I made a point of watching Higurashi two weeks ago especially to be able to watch its sequel. It was vaguely dull - my ’suspension of disbelief’ only goes so far, and it does not include a big revelation of a series’ plot at the end to have anything to do with alien killer bugs.
The second season is shaping up well, in comparison. I like the new art better, and though I’ll miss Souichirou Hoshi as the doormat-whose-name-I-forgot-again, it focuses on my favourite loli of the bunch: Rika. Mi~
Devil May Cry
I’m not sure which season to add this to.
The speed it got licensed at is honestly disturbing, albeit not surprising - this put me in the situation of watching episode 3 raw, and me noticing just how usual the dialogue is. The art&animation is beautifull, music pretteh and it has fairly good pacing: but something about this is off-putting. Granted, it may be Huge Guns, or the Too Many Random Guts, or the Too Annoying Female Protagonist which turn any series into ’meh’, but I really expect the other elements of this keep that at a low.
I really really hope it will pick up.
Zombie-Loan
The opening was craptastic. The character art makes me wonder whether it would be easier to snap a twig or the character’s wrist. However! This is by far the best thing that came out up until now. The characters and premise are entertaining, the bishonen are attractive and I can forsee huge character growth. The magenekko might just turn out to be interesting.
